A Love That Waits

I wish I could explain every choice that I made, Why I chose to run instead of fighting to stay. Running promised freedom from the ghosts of the past, But freedom built on fleeing was a lie that couldn’t last. I never stopped loving you—I hated who I was, Buried every feeling under anything that numbed. Built a kingdom out of shame until the final wall had crumbled. When God asked what must die, I answered, “Take myself.” The man I tried to run from was the man who needed help. I spent years turning corners, hoping you would reappear, Hoping I could tell the truth I was too afraid to hear. I thought I had to win the heart I never truly lost. I never knew your love still fought through everything it cost. Love waits. Love stands the test of time. Love never gives up. Love never runs. A love that waits Does not demand. It stays in prayer With open hands. Through the silence, Through the pain, Through the heartache Of the choices I have made. If tomorrow brings no answer, I will love you anyway. I will stay. I will be faithful. I will love. I will pray. Now I get down on my knees and seek the healing of my wounds, Take ownership of every wound I handed you. I speak the truth however hard; I finally count the cost, Seek to be a father to the daughters I left lost. Christ broke my pride, my sin, my shame, the throne beneath my name. I stopped answering the voices and began to pray through pain. If restoration differs from the future I would choose, I will still become the man that God has called me to. Not asking you to heal me. Not demanding access back. Not laying my repentance as a burden in your lap. This weight is mine to carry; I won’t make it yours. Love gives with open hands and never forces doors. Lay down your pride. Own what you made. Make the course correction. Choose to stay. Break my comfort. Bend my will. Teach me to love when the road stands still. No claim on her heart. No demand for return. Let obedience prove what repentance has learned. Love does not say, “You are mine.” Love says, “We are His,” and leaves the rest to Christ. Thank you for the years you gave. I am sorry for the years you lost. May the Father bless and keep you. May He fill your heart with peace. Even if that peace leads away from me, Love will wait faithfully. Thank you for being true When I could not be true to you. I never stopped loving you. I was running from myself. No defense. No demand. No promise you must answer to. Whatever tomorrow asks me to do, I will wait. I will stay. I will love you.
