Don't Give Me Away Again

Father, I walked the road my own heart chose, believing my desires were wiser than Your voice, I traded holy ground for passing pleasure, exchanged Your truth for a lie, and still You kept calling while I kept walking into the fire, Wisdom cried out at the crossroads, but I wanted the voice that agreed with me, I hardened my heart until warning sounded like chains and rebellion sounded like liberty, and when You gave me over to what I demanded, I learned the terror of getting my way, because the worst judgment I ever knew was becoming the man I chose without grace. Do not let me wander. Do not let me drift. Do not let my heart Forget Your voice again. If I reach for darkness, If I crave the lie, Pull me back with mercy Before I cross that line. Don't give me away again. When my heart begins to wander, Don't give me away again. Hold me closer than my flesh. Hold me tighter than my pride. Do not leave me to the lies I still know how to believe. Hold on to me, Because I know what happens When I let go. I called it love when it was hunger, called it freedom when it owned me, called it life while it was killing every holy thing inside me slowly, I argued with correction, but I was really fighting You, I heard the Word and hated it because it told the truth, I mistook Your patience for permission, mistook silence for approval, mistook desire for direction until the harvest turned brutal, now all I want is Kingdom, all I want is clean hands, if by Your grace You send me, let me stand where broken men stand. Commission me by mercy. Send me by Your grace. Let me find the wandering And point them to Your face. Not to preach from pride, Not to hide my scars, But to tell them Jesus Still restores the heart. Do not let me use Your grace as license, do not let me dress my sin in light, do not let me call conviction violence when Your mercy comes to save my life, keep me hungry for Your presence, keep me desperate for Your truth, keep me close enough to tremble when my heart would run from You. Don't leave me to myself. Don't leave me to myself. If You remove Your hand, I'll choose the lie again. Father, hold me close. Don't give me away again. When my heart begins to wander, Don't give me away again. Hold me closer than my flesh. Hold me tighter than my pride. Do not leave me to the lies I still know how to believe. If You never let go, Neither will I. If You keep calling me home, I'll stay in the Light.
