No Audience

I used to need a witness before I chose what’s right, Wanted recognition for the battles fought at night. I wanted them to notice every difference in my face, As if applause could certify the evidence of grace. I measured my repentance by the words they gave to me, Then questioned my surrender when they did not choose to see. But change that needs an audience is still protecting pride, So teach me to be faithful when it’s only You and I. When no audience sees me, When no one speaks my name, Make the man inside the silence The man I publicly claim. When nobody believes me, When no one sees the cost, Let obedience keep speaking When the evidence feels lost. Stay faithful to the truth when every lie would cost me less, Stay faithful to the narrow walk when no one seems impressed. Stay faithful to what’s right when doing right brings no reward, When obedience feels silent and my prayers feel ignored. Integrity is choosing what I know that Christ requires, When no one sees the sacrifice or knows what it inspires. The private man must practice every promise that he makes, Because character is proven by the road he never takes. Truth when it costs me. Faith when I’m lost. Right when obedience Feels like a cross. Walk when it’s lonely. Stand when I’m blamed. Live like the man I have publicly claimed. The lie says, “No one’s looking. No one knows what you will choose. Take the easier road tonight— There is nothing here to lose.” But every hidden compromise Still shapes the man I am, And every unseen act of faith Still rests within Your hands. No audience is watching, But my Father sees the fight. Not to crush me with His anger— He is leading me toward light. What I choose within the darkness Will become the life I live. So the moments no one witnesses Are the ones I have to give. Someone is always looking, Whether we like it or not. God knows every hidden secret, Every motive, every thought. Nothing vanishes in darkness. Nothing hidden is unknown. But the eyes that see my failure Are the eyes that lead me home. When no audience sees me, When no one speaks my name, Make the man inside the silence The man I publicly claim. The Father sees each hidden choice And calls His child His own. So when the lie says, “No one’s looking,” I will answer what is true: Every hidden thing still matters— Because I live my life for You.
