Stay With the Wounded · Track 01

After the Amen

Prayer is the beginning of care, not a substitute for it. The speaker seeks a yes that can become steady action while respecting refusal and admitting limits. He asks to remain without making himself the answer to every wound. Jesus is asked to shape the love being prayed into the speaker's choices after the emotional moment. God holds the needs the helper cannot carry and calls him toward the help he can faithfully offer. The care promised in prayer must enter ordinary plans and actions, with honesty about limits and freedom for the person receiving it.

Lyrics

After the amen... Let my yes mean STAY. Put Your love in motion Through the steps I take. When the room falls silent, When the words give way— Jesus, keep me faithful AFTER THE AMEN. Father, the prayer ends. The room starts to clear. Teach me to stay when the need is still here. I know how to promise. I know what to say. Search what I do... when those words fade away. Don't let "I'll pray" be the end of my care. Show me the burden that I ought to share. I cannot fix every wound that I see. But keep me from using that truth just to leave. Give me the patience to hear it again. Without demanding a date for the end. Help me ask plainly what help they would choose. Let me accept when my offer's refused. I don't need the answer To hear what they say. I don't need the spotlight To choose... To STAY. Teach me to listen before I explain. Don't make their sorrow a stage for my name. Give me the courage to hear what is true. When I have no answer, show what I can do. No "you should be healed" when the hurt hasn't gone. No "just have more faith" when the night carries on. Help me give freely, without keeping score. And honor their "no" when they ask for no more. Don't make them open the wounds that run deep. Honor the parts of the story they keep. Make me consistent when feelings run dry. Let what I promised outlive what I cried. Don't let impatience insist they move on. Stay through the silence when answers are gone. Help me be honest about what I bear. Make what I offer a promise of care. Let me remember when others move on. Need won't end when attention is gone. Lord, let mercy enter my day. Make room in my plans for the love that I pray. KEEP ME HERE! When the words run out. KEEP ME HERE! When I can't fix it now. Not for a moment. Not for a name. Jesus... make love Strong enough to REMAIN. Jesus... I want to help. I'm scared I'll make it worse. So I reach for the perfect answer... And hide behind the words. Teach me to bear that silence. I don't have to make it end. If all I have is presence... Help me give it again. When I can't carry everything, Show me the part that's mine. Help me ask for help as well... And leave the rest to You. After the amen, Let my yes mean STAY. Put Your love in motion Through the steps I take. Jesus, lead me closer To the need I see. Let the love I pray for Take its shape in me. When the room falls silent, When the words give way— Jesus, keep me faithful AFTER THE AMEN. The prayer ends... The need stays. Jesus, lead... I'll take the next step. No ready answer. No grand display. Give me the courage... To love today.
