Song lyrics
Lyrics
She came dressed up in Sunday light, soft voice, pretty tears, perfect timing. I was standing there with bloodshot eyes, but somehow I became the one on trial. I brought the truth in shaking hands, pages full of things I couldn't fake. You said to wait, you said to pray, but I was breaking more each day. I kept asking if anybody heard me, but the room stayed quiet while the story turned against me.
I was searching for shelter.
I was searching for grace.
But I found another battle
In a place that felt safe.
Whispers in the ear,
They were louder than my crying.
You believed the fear,
But you never saw me dying.
You were gentle with the wolf,
Heavy-handed with the sheep.
Now I'm leaving with my faith,
But not the silence that you keep.
Whispers in the ear,
They can sound so sweet and holy.
But I know what I lived,
And I know what it cost me.
So I'm packing up the pain,
I'm walking out of here,
Leaving all the lies
And the whispers in the ear.
I asked if Jesus would just stand and watch a wounded heart get colder. You said my cross was learning grace while the weight kept getting older. I needed shelter from the storm, not a sermon on endurance. I needed someone at the door saying, "You are safe here, no more." But mercy moved one way, and I was told to carry what should have never been mine in the name of sanctuary.
I'm not losing God.
I'm just losing what was hollow.
I'm not giving up.
I just found a road to follow.
There's a well outside these walls.
There's a mercy running deeper.
And the Shepherd still knows how
To find the wounded seeker.
Whispers in the ear,
They were louder than my crying.
You believed the fear,
But you never saw me rising.
You were gentle with the wolf,
Heavy-handed with the sheep.
Now I'm leaving with my faith,
And the truth I get to keep.
Whispers in the ear,
They can sound so sweet and holy.
But I know what I lived,
And I know who still holds me.
So I'm packing up the pain,
I'm walking out of here,
Leaving all the lies
And the whispers in the ear.
I still go to the well, I still fall to my knees. I'm not leaving Love, I'm just learning how to leave. No more whispers in the ear. No more whispers in the ear.
