Private family matter, that is how the silence grows, shut the blinds, lower voices, keep the fracture undisclosed. But a child came through the doorway with the warning in her eyes, and the room chose explanations over what it recognized. I have called things peace because I feared the cost, watched the truth stay buried while the wounded carried loss. But love does not protect by hiding what was wrong, love does not ask the injured to stay quiet and be strong. If we failed her then, we stand up now, no more private rooms where truth gets bowed.
