Before the Accuser Finishes

OH NOOOOOO!!!! I KNOW WHAT THAT SILENCE MEANS. HE'S HERE AGAIN FOR ME. Jesus... my voice is shaking. Before the lie lands, Hold me where You named me Yours. Don't leave me with my defense. "You think a prayer can cover what you used to be? Your past is all your future; it's the only thing I see. You say that grace has claimed you; I say grace will turn away. You'll spend your life becoming what you were another day. Your shame is your true name; your hope is just a mask. No one will want the answer if they ever dare to ask. You're only what you've done; your future is my claim. I'll keep you in that grave and make you answer to that name." Jesus, those are lies— But they know where fear can hurt. I hear the charge repeating; I can't make it lose its words. My breath is getting smaller. My hands won't settle down. Tell me where Your mercy stands When accusation gets this loud. Each charge comes pressing harder till Your truth feels small; A whisper of Your promise meets a roar against the wall. I cannot argue shame into releasing what it grips; I need Your living mercy closer than these trembling lips. My wrong was never hidden from the Savior on the cross; You knew the weight You carried; You knew what rescue cost. The lie says I am nothing but a record of my sin; But You have called me Yours—let that truth break in! NO, YOU CAN'T HAVE ME!!!!! I AM HIS! I AM HIS SON! I AM A CHILD OF THE MOST HIGH GOD!!! Jesus—not because my voice is strong. Because Your grace has brought me home. I'm shaking... but I am not alone. Father, keep the ones You gave Me In the shelter of Your name. Guard them from the evil one; Make them holy through Your truth. I pray for those still coming, Who believe through their word. Let them share Our life together; Let Your love become clear. Let the world behold their unity And know You sent the Son. You love them as You love Me; Bring them to be with Me, To see My glory shine. Let the love You have for Me Live within them— And let Me live within them. Before the accuser finishes, Jesus, You have prayed for me. Before I find an answer, You have asked that I be kept. Not abandoned to the darkness. Not reduced to what I've done. Held within the Father's love Because I belong to the Son. Let Your truth outlast the thunder. Let Your people draw me near. Bring us into love together— You have prayed that we be one. My voice is shaking still. The silence hasn't changed. But I am held inside Your prayer. I am Yours... I am Yours... And You know my name.
