Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the center of the Christian faith.

He entered the world He made, lived in complete love and obedience to the Father, welcomed the overlooked, confronted hypocrisy, forgave sins, and announced that God’s kingdom had drawn near. In Him, the invisible God has made Himself known.

Jesus was crucified under Pontius Pilate, buried, and raised bodily from the dead on the third day. He now reigns as Lord and will return to judge evil, raise the dead, and renew creation. The invitation of the Gospel is therefore an invitation to Jesus Himself.

Jesus, in Matthew 16:15That question is personal, but it is not private. Scripture gives a real answer: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Made for God

God created human beings in His image to know Him, reflect His goodness, and care for His world. Our deepest dignity and purpose come from Him.

Ruined by sin

We have rejected God’s rule and tried to live as our own authority. Sin corrupts our worship, desires, relationships, and world, leaving every person guilty and unable to rescue themselves.

Rescued by Christ

God did not abandon His creation. The Son took our humanity, fulfilled the obedience we owed, bore the judgment our sin deserved, and rose in victory over death.

Called into new life

Jesus calls people to turn from sin and trust Him. Those who belong to Christ are forgiven, adopted into God’s family, given the Holy Spirit, joined to His church, and promised resurrection life.

We are neither accidents to be discarded nor self-made people able to heal ourselves. We are creatures made by God, corrupted by sin, and remade only through Jesus Christ.

Formed

Known by God in the secret place.

Before anyone else saw us, God knew us. He formed us in the hiddenness of the womb and made every human life with creaturely dignity, dependence, and purpose.

Deformed

Sin has distorted what God made good.

Sin does not erase the image of God, but it bends every part of us away from Him. We remain accountable to our Maker, yet we cannot restore ourselves by effort, sincerity, or religion.

Transformed

Grace remakes us in the likeness of Christ.

Jesus does more than improve damaged people. By grace, He forgives sin, gives new birth, joins believers to His death and resurrection, and gives the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 11:28

The call to the exhausted

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

In its setting

Jesus speaks after confronting towns that had witnessed His works yet refused to repent. He declares that only the Son can make the Father known.

What Jesus is offering

He gives rest to people who can no longer carry the burden of sin, fear, performance, or self-salvation.

A faithful response

Come with the burden you are actually carrying. Receive Jesus as Teacher and Lord, and learn obedience from a gentle and humble Savior.

John 7:37–38

The call to the thirsty

“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”

In its setting

Jesus speaks at the Feast of Booths, when worshipers remembered God’s water in the wilderness. John explains that Jesus is speaking about the Holy Spirit.

What Jesus is offering

Jesus speaks to the thirst beneath every lesser desire. He gives the Holy Spirit and a new life that begins now and reaches into eternity.

A faithful response

Admit where temporary things have been asked to satisfy an eternal thirst. Come to Christ in faith.

The call to intimacy

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock.”

In its setting

The risen Jesus addresses a self-satisfied church that considered itself rich while Christ exposed its spiritual poverty.

What Jesus is offering

He disciplines those He loves and calls them to repent, open the door, and share restored fellowship with Him.

A faithful response

Hear both the warning and the affection in Christ’s voice. Repent of self-sufficiency and welcome His correction.

Receiving the invitation

How do I respond to Jesus?

Grace is received, not achieved. Scripture describes a response that reaches the mind, heart, and whole direction of life.

Repent

Turn honestly toward God.

Agree with God about sin, lay down self-rule, and turn toward the mercy and authority of Jesus. Repentance is not cleaning yourself up before coming; it is coming because you cannot cleanse yourself.

Believe

Entrust yourself to Christ.

Faith is resting the weight of your guilt, future, and identity on the crucified and risen Savior, trusting His promise rather than your spiritual performance.

Follow

Begin a new life with Him.

Following Jesus includes baptism, life in a faithful local church, learning His Word, prayer, worship, love of neighbor, and daily obedience empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Speak honestly with God

You do not need polished words.

Tell God the truth about your sin and need. Confess that Jesus is Lord, thank Him for Christ’s death and resurrection, ask for mercy, and place yourself in His hands. A prayer does not save by its wording; Jesus saves everyone who comes to Him in faith.

If you are beginning to trust Christ, speak with a faithful local pastor or mature Christian. The Christian life is meant to be lived with Christ’s people, not alone.
